this is a very important review as it will tell you what this boot is like.according to amazon's amazing shoe fit guide, up to 40% say this boot is too small...meaning a full size, or just somewhat. what does that mean.well, i decided to order my usual cowboy boot size of 11 and trust the Cowboy Gods. i'm 11 D in lucchese to dan post to dingo to durango to justin (well, they fit big so was actually a 10.5 in justin's)...etc. my nike basketball or running shoe size is 12 to 12.5, adidas is 12.5, my dress shoe is 11.5 normally. so per expected, cowboy or western boots are a bit smaller than most of your other normal shoes.since most people were saying these stetson sniptoe/squaretoe hybrid were small, i trusted my experience, plus one reviewer who said the leather was soft and rapidly expanded if tight, once on your foot. while i ORIGINALLY THOUGHT THIS CORRECT, and the leather does expand, i have to say they do run narrow in the front part of the shoe (midfoot forward). i would NOT get a wider or longer size as that will mess up the fit of the rest of the shoe...when people say these are 'small' they really mean narrow vs. short.the fit is NOT short...but indeed narrow. it DID take almost an hour wearing these to feel them expand to almost the proper size of 11 D on me, and they still are like a tight glove. as we all know, however, wearing any western boot for a few day will expand it to conform to your foot, but with these you WILL NEED to get some sort of boot stretcher spray, tho that is alcohol and does weaken the leather. you may NOT wish to do what i do, and that is get boot stretchers (the ones that widen). these take some time leaving in the shoe, wearing, then doing again. over time this is the best way to widen these boots in the front to toe area...and now that i've spent a month or so using a boot stretcher (usually $40 for the wood variety that expands widthwise) these fit absolutely properly. BUT if you are hoping to simply wear these walking about, and they will stretch properly to fit, that may take a year or so. expect to get a boot stretcher.with that in mind, i'd say order true to size. do NOT order larger than your size as these will be too long. getting a wide would be a delightful choice if stetson made an E (next size up in width from a D)...but their next width up is a 2E...unless you are truly a wide, i personally would think twice about going 2E.why so much spent on the size? it is the only issue of consequence with this boot...in all other respects these may be the perfect cowboy boot if you like the style. they are amazing. don't have any hesitation on any other aspect...size (ok, color) is all that will take your wits.if you can bear to wear these in order to stretch them out vs. getting a larger width (which of course will also be wider in the heel, throwing the whole mix off), and still find them a bit tight, there are always shoe stretching sprays (basically alcohol you spray inside and out and then wear...not my personal choice as it does stress the leather a bit) or a bit more expensive, getting toe expanders for about $40, or one size up in wooden shoe or boot trees that over time will expand them a bit. to really help, i jam socks behind the heel of shoe trees and put them in, that in order to really expand the leather.in all other respects, if you like the look of this boot, or any of the other color variations of this harness style, GET IT. they look better in person and are incredibly well crafted. looks like it will last a lifetime. it may be a bit overly stylish for some people's tastes, however, the construction is so true and impeccable the boots don't look like a phoney fashionista boot...the truth in construction gives credence to the fancy leather designs. the harness looks super cool.
