After trying another style we couldn't get to work we are excited about this collar. We found we had to tap the icons with our finger nail on the on/off and the mode icon to get the collar to come on. After we tap a few times it responds and we can set our level of training. With our small dogs we've never added the shock points or even used it because the vibrate scares them into obedience. In fact our very bubbly, barking poodle after 2 days with the vibrate now barks very little. We were going out of our minds because the poodle is a people lover and would bark with excitement at seeing ANY human she saw. Now we have more control over her and it's fantastic! We are so relieved to have found these collars. The charge seems to last a long time as well. We don't leave them on all day long but only when they go outside. If it seems you can't get yours to work play around with it tap or hold the icon until it responds.
